Father Sargis of Hovhannesavank stated today, October 24, in a conversation with journalists, that he has been summoned to the Investigative Committee.

“Yes, I have been summoned and received a notification, but I don’t know the details or the reason,” he said.

Regarding the possibility that the summons might be scheduled for Sunday to prevent him from performing the liturgy, lawyer Ara Zohrabyan commented: “We assume they might call him on Sunday to prevent his participation in the service. This is only an assumption because we have not seen the notification ourselves; I haven’t seen it, and I believe Father Sargis hasn’t either. Therefore, we assume that they might use such measures to try to obstruct the ceremony.”
