At present, there is no specific work or process regarding border delimitation in Tavush Province, Tavush Governor Hayk Ghalumyan told reporters Friday in Armenia’s parliament.

“Of course, discussions may take place at the level of deputy prime ministers [of Armenia and Azerbaijan], but specifically in Tavush Province there is no process related to that,” he said, adding that until the border delimitation process takes place, it cannot be clear where exactly the Armenian-Azerbaijani border runs. “That 12.7km section that was delimited — it was at that time that it became clear where those points are being put. Until delimitation takes place, we cannot say,” the governor added.

As for Armenia’s statements that there are territories belonging to Azerbaijan but under Armenia’s control, he said: “That seems perfectly clear; there is no big secret there. You know well that we have such territories in the Voskepar [village] section, in the Berkaber [village] section.”

Asked how many students are studying at the Kirants village school after the construction of a wall in this village, the governor replied: “At this moment, 37 students are studying at the school, and five children are attending preschool. There has been no emigration from the village at all. Currently, under a state program worth 16 million [drams], 53 houses are being built specifically in Kirants village.”
