Preferred“I have commented on this long ago; I have said that in case of falling into historical research, it could turn out that someone finds their homeland in Altai.” This was stated today by National Assembly (NA) of Armenia speaker Alen Simonyan, as he spoke with reporters in the National Assembly.
Simonyan noted the aforesaid referring to Azerbaijan president Ilham Aliyev’s statements that “there is no Lake Sevan, there is Lake Goycha,” “the return of Azerbaijanis to their historical lands should not scare the Armenians,” and that the names of all regions of Armenia have Azerbaijani origins.
“I have nothing to add to that. I consider that it does not follow the logic that exists. It is intended for his internal audience; I do not wish to respond in place of his internal audience.
In his text, I did not see any intention of liberation; on the contrary, I saw that he says ‘we must return with vehicles.’ It is not about tanks, etc. I do not understand why you interpreted it as ‘liberating.’
That is, when we talk about the return of Karabakh residents to their homes, are we talking about [returning with] tanks?” Simonyan said.
The Armenian NA speaker, however, did not answer the question of whether he considers it normal that the Azerbaijani leader makes such statements.
