During Soviet times, we had a direct railway link with Azerbaijan through Tavush Province and Syunik Province. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his address Friday at the “Crossroads of Peace: Developing Regional Communications” conference in Yerevan.

“And I also want to draw our attention to the fact that the Republic of Armenia has expressed readiness, starting today, to ensure the transit of freight trucks from Turkey to Azerbaijan through Margara,. Kornidzor [border checkpoints of Armenia], and in the opposite direction. Why are we [i.e. Armenia] proposing this now? Because today this infrastructure is ready. In all other sections about which I will speak, our political readiness is also present, but it's just that we still have investments to make there,” added the Armenian premier.
