Samvel Karapetyan will remain in custody for another two months. This was stated by one of his legal defenders, Aram Vardevanyan, speaking with reporters in the courtyard of the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia.

The aforesaid court on Tuesday announced its decision regarding the motion to extend the detention of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, who is in custody in Yerevan.

The motion was considered for more than 15 hours.

On June 17, a search was conducted at Karapetyan’s home after he had publicly expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. He had said that a small group, forgetting Armenian history and the Armenian Apostolic Church’s millennia-long history, had attacked the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian people.

Karapetyan was detained for two months on June 18. On August 15, the Anti-Corruption Court had extended Samvel Karapetyan’s detention for two months, and after that his detention was extended for one more month.
