I am ready to go to Azerbaijan at a convenient time. Speaker of the Armenian parliament, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters Wednesday.

“Also, I intend to invite my Azerbaijani counterpart to Armenia within the framework of any format,” Simonyan added.

In response to a question on whether he has received an invitation to visit Azerbaijan, the head of Armenia’s National Assembly gave a negative answer. Nevertheless, if such an invitation is received, he will consider it, Simonyan added.

“Azerbaijan’s refusal regarding participation in the European Political Community summit to be held in Yerevan in May 2026 is not related to Armenia. During the meeting, Ms. [Sahiba] Gafarova [i.e. speaker of the Azerbaijani legislative body] asked that I convey on behalf of their president that it has nothing to do with the Armenian side,” said the speaker of the Armenian parliament.
