US President Donald Trump will leave one day, but the friendship between Iran and Armenia will remain, Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami told a press conference Wednesday.
Commenting on the US president’s intention to raise tariffs on countries that buy gasoline from Iran, the Iranian diplomat noted that this is not the first time Trump has made such statements.
Shirgholami added that Iran has a strong economy and is accustomed to working in difficult conditions.
“We [i.e. Iran] are still working with our partners under the heavy sanctions that Trump had previously imposed [on Iran]. We call on him to abandon this short-sighted approach. We will continue cooperation with our partners, which is based on mutual benefit. The main thing is the political will of the parties, according to which cooperation should be developed despite the existing difficulties,” said the Iranian ambassador to Armenia.
