The Armenian government intends to deepen cooperation with Russian partners on opening regional communications, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press briefing Thursday.

“We have submitted a written request on this matter. I don’t know yet whether or not there has been a written response, but in general, we see positive signs and hope that the process will accelerate,” Pashinyan added.

He recalled that as early as early 2026, representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan visited the Yeraskh-Sadarak border railway junction.

“So, processes are underway in the region, and they cannot be stopped,” the Armenian premier added.

He noted that the same applies to the Akhurik section, too.

"If for some reasons our Russian partners will not wish to invest, we [i.e. Armenia] will take over those sectors and do everything ourselves," Nikol Pashinyan noted.
