A group of former Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) residents have organized a protest near the official residence of the President of Armenia ahead of the visit by US Vice President JD Vance and demanding the release of Armenian prisoners illegally held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
“The rally is being organized during the US Vice President's visit to Yerevan in order to once again draw the attention of the US and the international community to this important issue. We are obligated to voice clearly and with united force that every Armenian captive [in Azerbaijan] must be immediately and unconditionally released,” the Artsakh Information Center noted in a statement.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, will pay an official visit to Armenia on Monday and Tuesday.
This evening, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will meet with the US Vice President, after which they will make statements.
