Samvel Karapetyan will be the Strong Armenia party candidate for Prime Minister. Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the opposition "Our Way" movement, announced this during the official launch of the Strong Armenia party today in Yerevan.

“Dear compatriots, a strong Armenia first of all needs strong leadership, a new leader with managerial skills. A new, but experienced leader. Our leader was born in Armenia, grew up in a village, in a family of teachers. He comes from the people. After achieving success in life and business, he never forgot where he came from. He has the best international connections for Armenia and will use them for the benefit of our country. He has proven this with deeds, not words. He has assisted the construction of hospitals, educational institutions, kindergartens, the development of culture, programs for job creation, and helped many families.

Today we present a new alternative, an alternative in the economy, in security, for strong peace. An alternative for the hope of the Armenian people.

Our party’s candidate for prime minister is Samvel Karapetyan,” said Narek Karapetyan, who is the nephew of Samvel Karapetyan.

Also, Narek Karapetyan pledged that if they win the parliamentary election in Armenia slated for June 7, twenty days after the election, they will make an amendment in the National Assembly, with a two-thirds vote, to the constitution’s Article 148 regarding the election of the Prime Minister of Armenia, which will enable any Armenian citizen—including Samvel Karapetyan—to be elected Prime Minister.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that the congress of well-known Russian Armenian businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia party was held Wednesday, during which the party chairman and board member were elected.

And Samvel Karapetyan was unanimously elected Chairman of the Strong Armenia party.
