On March 4, opposition bloc "Armenia" MP Kristine Vardanyan played a recording of one of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's interviews in the National Assembly, in which he stated: "It is important that, in addition to the negotiating parties, there is also a guarantor or guarantors of the agreement. If there are no international guarantors, one can sign a peace treaty, and then, say, 12 hours later, war may break out. And this is not an exaggeration."

After stopping the recording, the opposition MP asked Pashinyan whether he had changed his position on the matter. "Were you lying when you gave that interview, or are you lying now, when you ratified the document without guarantors but say that peace is an accomplished fact?" she stated.

In response, Pashinyan said, "Although Einstein's theory of relativity was of fundamental importance for understanding the world and the universe, there were fundamental questions on which he turned out to be wrong. Nevertheless, no one took away Einstein's Nobel Prize and other awards. Why? Because knowledge is a path, there is a saying: the ignorant one is he who does not change.

If our understanding of the world and international relations had remained the same as in 2018 or 2020, the Republic of Armenia would not exist today.

Vardanyan replied: "Trusting you is a crime."

Pashinyan reminded the assembly that several years ago Armenia had a security guarantor — everything was on paper. "We gave up that security guarantee and became a state. Because throughout the entire period of that guarantee, we were not a state. In a constantly changing world, those who do not change will share the fate of the dinosaurs.

Yes, I do not exclude that within these six months, within six hours, Azerbaijan may change in such a way that many assessments will change," the Prime Minister concluded.
