Georgian national Dashkhin Sofiev, who was on a business trip to Tehran, witnessed the bombings firsthand. He told NEWS.am that he spent two days in Tehran, saw the bombardments, then moved to another city — Takestan — where the situation was calm.

"Then we went back to Tehran to our hotel to pick up our passports. That night, when we stayed at the hotel, it was very dangerous. At 4am I saw a massive bomb from the hotel window for the first time. I think it was the day of the hospital bombing. That morning we went to Takestan, and then from Takestan to the Armenian border."

Asked whether there were many Iranians at the border crossing, the Georgian man replied: "No, not many — 40 people at most, and not all of them were Iranian. There were foreigners, there were Chinese. Actually, I saw many Chinese people at the hotel in Tehran — they were in shock. At the border, there were more than 10 Chinese people crossing into Armenia. I don't think that means there were many Iranians, because 40 people is normal. If there were many, there would be hundreds, but there weren't many people."

He said he saw many people being evacuated in Tehran. "Because the situation in Iran was dangerous. Only from big cities were people being evacuated — only in big cities. As for the borders — maybe two days ago people were crossing, but not now. Now there are very few people."
