Since 2023, about 145 billion drams have been allocated from the Armenian state budget under various programs to meet the needs of our compatriots displaced from Karabakh. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during a discussion, titled "The Process of Socioeconomic Inclusion of Armenians Displaced from Karabakh," today.

"We are convinced that some [of them] have reached a clear and targeted place. Perhaps this targeting may not be with the highest precision in some places, but I think it would be right for at least the second half and the final part of our conversation to be devoted to our actions, the future, what we will do after this, because I saw the statistics: at the moment, only about 1,700 families [displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh] have acquired a house [in Armenia] under the program," Pashinyan added.

On the one hand, this number, according to him, is not small in the sense that there is a working mechanism, the improvement of which is always on the agenda. But on the other hand, there is concern, since there is a wish for this process to take place on a larger scale.

Pashinyan touched also upon the speculation that Armenia’s parliamentary elections are coming soon and that the government will do everything to delay and hinder the process of those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh obtaining Armenian citizenship. The premier said that it is the opposite, and they are concerned that the amount of Armenian citizenship applications by them is small.

“Our task is very practical: we want you to settle in the Republic of Armenia as soon as possible—citizenship, home, work, social environment... We need to get signals from you on what else we need to do to resolve this issue as effectively as possible,” Pashinyan added.
