Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Samvel Shahramanyan, together with other Artsakh leadership and comrades-in-arms, on Thursday visited the Yerablur Military Pantheon of Yerevan to pay tribute to the victims of the April 2016 Four-Day War and to lay flowers.

Many Armenian politicians and ordinary citizens are visiting Yerablur today.

As reported earlier, today marks the 10th anniversary of the start of the Four-Day War.

On the night of April 1-2, 2016, the Azerbaijani armed forces, in violation of the May 12, 1994 agreement on a complete cessation of fire and hostilities and the February 6, 1995 agreement on the strengthening of the ceasefire, attacked Nagorno-Karabakh.

For four days, the Azerbaijani army launched attacks along the entire line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh, using heavy equipment, artillery, and aviation. But having suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment and not achieving the set goals, the Azerbaijani side was forced to cease hostilities.

The most intense fighting took place in the southern (Hadrut) and northeastern (Martakert) directions.

A total of 110 servicemen from the Armenian armed forces were killed as a result of hostilities.

On April 5, 2016 a verbal agreement was reached on a ceasefire.
