We are entering a completely new phase of economic development, and this is connected with the peace process established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with representatives of large employers in Armenia.

“And we expect major events in the near future, primarily related to the launch of the TRIPP project, which is significant in that it has finally completely brought the Republic of Armenia out of the blockade. Armenia has overcome the blockade today as well, because you know that it is possible to carry out rail cargo transportation to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan and it is being carried out. But I also want to say that the clear political commitment is that it is also possible to carry out export by rail, of course, through the territory of Georgia, until we open the railway with Azerbaijan within the framework of the TRIPP project—and this is very important,” Pashinyan added.

“The political agreement is that this railway will never be closed; that is, it is a reliable route for both import and export. But as far as I understand, we are not using the railway specifically for export yet, because it is clear that 30-year-old logistics chains have worked, in order to transform them, first of all, trust is needed, people shall understand, [what] is being said, how durable, reliable it is. And secondly, the logistics chains must change, because it is one thing that we think with the logic of a truck, it is another thing when we think with the logic of a railcar," the Armenian premier said.
