Former serviceman Suren Kirakosyan who is in Goris penitentiary currently, is in a hunger-strike since April 5.

According to ‘The Real Army’ initiative, Kirakosyan was called to the service on June 30, 2009, although he had serious health issued and according to law he should have been called to the army only after treatment.

The young man has tried to escape service and was punished twice. On April 5 the he declared a hunger-strike demanding to appoint him to a medical examination.

The spokesperson of Armenia’s Ministry of Justice Gor Ghlechyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the man was taken to Goris penitentiary on Tuesday when he was already in strike.

According to Ghlechyan, Kirakosyan protests against his verdict.

According to Kirakosyan’s parents, he has serious health issues.
