YEREVAN. – A woman by the name of Hamest Movsisyan, who attended the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress’ (ANC) parliamentary election campaign rally in Yeghvard village on Thursday, was trying to come near the ANC leader and Armenia’s First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, at any cost. After unsuccessful attempts, the women asked that her letter be given to him, Aravot daily writes.

‘“I came to ask for monetary assistance. My father is sick in bed; I have no money for medication. My vision is minus 35. I cannot work,’ she said.

Ms. Hamest was assuring that she would vote for the ANC and Levon Ter-Petrosyan. ‘I used to be a [ruling coalition’s] Republican [Party of Armenia (RPA)] member, but I have left it now. It [the Party] did not endorse my several requests; I came out.’

It became apparent much later that an ANC member had not allowed the women to approach the First President and said: ‘We are not one of those who give out money,’” Aravot writes.
