YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) MP candidate, opposition bloc Armenian National Congress member Vahagn Khachatryan does not suspect the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party’s (PAP) sincerity, and he does not believe the PAP is playing the same game—in the lead-up to the NA elections—which the coalition’s Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party played in 2008. Khachatryan stated this during a debate on Friday (PHOTOS).

“I do not—and do not have the right to—rule out [otherwise], but at this phase the PAP is not participating in the mechanism of election fraud. The [coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA has a command of all the levers [for election fraud] and is using them,” Vahagn Khachatryan noted,  and added that the PAP’s signature under the document for forming a joint election oversight headquarters bespeaks the PAP’s sincerity.

In his turn, the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party MP candidate Arthur Yeghiazaryan remarked: “Those processes, in which the PAP is participating with us, do not give us even the moral right to dispute the PAP’s sincerity. But the true picture of any [political] force will appear more clearly after the elections.”
