YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian on Monday received Guido Podestà, President of the Province of Milan, Italy, who is in Armenia along the lines of the “Yerevan: World Book Capital 2012” celebrations.  

Nalbandian noted that the Armenian-Italian relations go back to centuries, and they are a good foundation for cooperation, MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Armenia is interested in broadening and deepening ties with Italy. An active political discourse is established between our two countries. The interparliamentary ties and cooperation are growing. Friendly ties are established between the cities and regions of Armenia and Italy. And these ties have become more active especially in recent years.,” Armenia’s FM stressed.     

The interlocutors reflected on the cooperation between Italy’s Milan Province and Armenia’s Kotayk Region, and the avenues for expanding this cooperation.  

Also, the parties discussed the steps toward broadening partnership, and underscored Milan’s economic potential. 

In addition, Edward Nalbandian and Guido Podestà pointed to Milan’s Armenian community’s positive input in the Armenian-Italian relations.
