ISTANBUL. – An event devoted to the Armenian Genocide victims was held in Istanbul’s Taksim Square, on Tuesday, April 24, at 19:15 (7:15pm). It was organized by the “Say No to Racism and Nationalism” movement of Turkey, Haberler news agency informs.

And representatives from Istanbul’s Armenian community made an appeal for the first time ever this year. Also, they selected the cut pomegranate as a symbol which shows that the wounds are still open and are bleeding. And on the cut pomegranate it read: “Time does not heal some wounds. April 24, 1915.”

Several groups of Turkish nationalists had gathered at the opposite side of the Square. They made statements against the holding of the Armenian Genocide commemoration, and they subsequently dispersed.
