YEREVAN. – Ombudsman of Armenia Karen Andreasyan agrees that there really are problems with voting lists, he said at a press conference on Saturday.

He added that the law does not allow removing from the lists those people, who are absent from Armenia for a long time, while registration of many people on one address is not a criminal act at all.

“At the same time, no one can guarantee that those errors will be corrected,” Andreasyan said.

The Ombudsman considers that a better way is to establish a control body and follow indirectly at the polling stations. However, the issue of confidentiality rises, as the arrival of a voter to the polling station is also to some extent confidential. As for the publishing the voters’ signatures, the Ombudsman rejected to comment as he considers it should be settled by the Constitutional Court.
