The United States do not have any role and is not interested in the negotiations between Russia and Azerbaijan on extending the contract of the usage of Gabala Radar Station, U.S. Charge d' affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Starling told APA. “This is a two sided problem between Azerbaijan and Russia. We don’t have any role and are not interested in the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Russia,” Starling announced. Commenting on the question whether the United States consider cooperating with Russia and jointly use Gabala radar station in the framework of anti-missile defense, Staling said that President Obama as well as President Bush before him expressed commitment to cooperate with Russia on missile defense as a general proposition. “Missile threats affect Russia as well as United States and the European Countries and I think it is right to fight against it together and we would like to see a cooperation system in the sphere of anti-missile defense. However, on the question whether Gabala plays a role in anti-missile defense, I can say, the question is not being discussed. There are no such plans,” he said.
