YEREVAN. – Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan received head of CIS Observation Mission and Deputy Chairman of CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun, the press service of the Armenian Government informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He informed that the observation mission consists of 173 members and reported about their monitoring work, which has been conducted in the country since April 16.

Garkun thanked the PM for the support shown by the government.

Tigran Sargsyan stressed the importance of the work conducted by the observation mission.

“We make every effort for these elections to be different from the others by their quality,” the PM said adding that the mission’s work is of great help.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
