On May 9 Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic celebrate the Victory Day in the World War II (Great Patriotic War) as well as the Liberation of Shushi and the anniversary of Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army.

An unprecedented military parade will take place in Nagorno-Karabakh capital Stepanakert on May 9.

To note, an Armenian Delegation led by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is also in Nagorno-Karabakh in order to participate in the celebrations.

In Yerevan the celebrations will include Visits to the Victory Park and laying flowers in front of the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

More than 600,000 Armenians fought at the front during the Great Patriotic War.

20 years ago on May 9, 1992, Armenian City of Shushi was liberated. During the war unleashed by Azerbaijan, Shushi was turned into a military stronghold of Azerbaijan.
