YEREVAN. – The next ruling coalition will at least include the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party, Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan stated during a press conference on Wednesday.

“This could be a full coalition, or another format of cooperation,” the analyst said, and expressed a conviction that, even though the RPA has received over fifty percent of the votes, a coalition will definitely be formed in the new Parliament.

In his words, the Prosperous Armenia Party’s (PAP) membership in this coalition would depend on what it is offered.

The political scientist believes it would be difficult for the PAP to function as an opposition for the next five years, because this needs a certain ideological framework. At the same time, however, the PAP cannot act in accordance with the RPA’s instructions, since the constituents voted for the PAP as an alternative political force.

Nonetheless, Alexander Iskandaryan added that the PAP could enter the coalition.
