Republic of Nauru, an island nation in West Pacific, recognized independence of South Ossetia, the Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity informed in the course of his meeting with Georgian human rights activists. According to him, the agreement on diplomatic relations’ establishment between Nauru and South Ossetia was signed today, December 16.

“Today Nauru recognized South Ossetia’s independence. An agreement on development of relations between the countries in all fields has been reached,” Kokoity stated.
Ossetian President underlined that about 10 more countries will recognize South Ossetia in the near future, REGNUM agency reports.

“The recognition of South Ossetia is inevitable”, he added.

“As for relations with Georgia, we need to establish them newly, as South Ossetia is already a recognized independent country. There should be good neighborly relations and we have to do our utmost to not spoil on our citizens. And that’s the thing,” Kokoity emphasized.

Nauru is the fourth country that recognized South Ossetia’s independence, after Russia, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
