YEREVAN. – The Armenian “higher echelons’” intentions to fire some regional governors have changed, Yerkir daily writes.
“Our sources claim that all [ruling Republican Party] RPA-member regional governors will continue in office. The President [and RPA leader] decided to run in the presidential elections with the same regional governors.
But they [i.e., the regional governors] understand that the presidential elections will be crucial for many [of them]. The Republican regional governors, who failed [to bring in great number of votes for the RPA] in the parliamentary elections, are given a second chance which, however, they can no longer afford to lose,” Yerkir writes.
