MOSCOW. – Russia’s capital city held on Wednesday a ceremony on setting up an Armenian cross-stone (khachkar) in the territory of a newly built monastery complex.

The cross-stone is devoted to the tragic events in Shahumyan Region of Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] in 1992. Primate of the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhijevan and Russia, Bishop Yezras Nersissian, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Oleg Yesayan, Artsakh’s representative in Russia Albert Andryan, Armenians living in Russia and journalists participated in the ceremony.

Andryan said that the tragic events in 1991-93 in Northern Arstakh have not yet been condemned by the world community, which prevents the Shahumyan residents from returning to their homes.
