YEREVAN. – In connection with the Glendale News daily’s recent announcement concerning the insurance compensation payments to heirs of the Armenian Genocide victims, Armenia’s Ministry of Justice received a clarification from American-Armenian attorney Vartkes Yeghiayan, who presented this case to US court.

In line with the clarification, the respective commission had allowed for some inaccuracies while examining the documents and petitions which were submitted to receive the compensations paid to the heirs of insured Armenians, and therefore Yeghiayan applied to US court.

After examining the case, the court commissioned a recalculation of the payments. But this refers solely to those petitions which already were approved by the commission.

As a result, close to US$ 2,176,587 will be redistributed to approximately one-hundred claimants.

Vartkes Yeghiayan also informed that the petitions rejected by the commission will not be reviewed within the framework of this case.
