The Rio+20 UN Earth Summit on Sustainable Development adopted a declaration entitled “The Future We Want.” The document clarifies the fundamental principles for passing on to a sustainable development.

Over one-hundred country and government leaders attended the event, during which Armenia was represented by the delegation led by FM Edward Nalbandian.  

The Summit stood out by the heated talks over preparing the declaration and, apparently, it was a result compromise.  

The document was criticized by the Summit participants and the Greens NGOs alike. 

And the fifty-page declaration specifies the precept of the countries’ “common but differentiated responsibilities.”
