YEREVAN. – Sahak Hovhannisyan, who was declared missing, was found dead in the canal close to Armenia’s Amberd village. 

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a citizen applied to the Police, on Friday at around 12am, and informed that his brother, Sahak Hovhannisyan had gone missing. He was believed to have fallen into a canal nearby a capital city Yerevan district. A special rescue squad and an operative team were dispatched to the scene.

The search activities fruitlessly continued until 2:42am and they resumed at 10:40am, the Emergency Situations Ministry press service informs.  

The Armavir regional rescue service squad, and the special rescue and operative teams were dispatched to the scene.  

In the evening, Amberd villagers noticed a drowned body in the canal nearby the village.   

And at 7:30pm, the rescuers removed the dead body of Yerevan resident Sahak Hovhannisyan (born in 1978) from the canal and handed it over to police officers.
