YEREVAN. – North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will pay a visit to Armenia from September 5 to 6.

The NATO Secretary General will meet with President Serzh Sargsyan, FM Edward Nalbandian, and Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Armenia’s MFA press service informs.

To note, Armenia and NATO actively cooperate in democratic, institutional and military reforms, and their practical ties also incorporate peacekeeping missions.

Armenia wishes to deepen its cooperation with NATO, but, in line with its official position, it does not seek NATO membership.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Serzh Sargsyan had met at NATO Headquarters, on March 6, 2012, during which the NATO Secretary General had extended his gratitude to Armenia’s President for the Armenian armed forces’ involvement in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
