Google’s homepage doodle on Thursday is devoted to the 193rd birth anniversary of renowned German pianist, composer and music teacher Clara Schumann—née Clara Josephine Wieck—, and to his husband Robert Schumann.

It was Clara who brought her husband to fame in Europe by performing his compositions, since Robert could not play the piano because of a hand injury.

Clara first performed publically at the age of ten, and she personally knew Niccolò Paganini and Franz Liszt.

She traveled a lot at a young age, and, at the age of eighteen, she was named “Royal and Imperial Chamber Virtuoso.”

Clara Wieck and Robert Schumann married on August 1, 1840.

Clara gave her last performance in 1891, at the age of seventy one, and she died in 1896 in Frankfurt, Germany.
