MOSCOW. – Holding CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF) military exercises in Armenia is targeted at reinforcing security in the region, Russian expert Eduard Popov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The region is tense. It includes the problem of Syria, Iran’s claims for getting nuclear weapon, Baku’s aggressive statements. All these do not inspire optimism,” he said adding the military exercises of the CSTO CRRF in this context are undoubtedly targeted at reinforcing security in the region.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the CSTO CRRF “Cooperation 2012” military exercises kicked off in Armenia on Saturday morning and will continue till Sept 19. About 2,000 servicemen from Armenia and other CSTO states are participating in the maneuvers.
