ISTANBUL. – Turkey is restoring two Armenian churches. In particular, reconstruction of Armenian Church Holy Trinity and St. Gregory the Illuminator church, which is in a 7 km distance from the Holy Trinity in Malatya, the birthplace of Hrant Dink—the founder and former chief editor of Istanbul’s Agos Armenian bilingual weekly, is underway.

Head of the Armenian Union in Malatya Hosrof Koletavitoglu, who observes the reconstruction works, said that the church was cleaned from stones and plants which covered the walls, the ceiling and the ground for many years, Agos informs.

To note, the Holy Trinity Church of Malatya functioned until 1915, subsequently, it was used as a military storage until 1940, and then it was left to its fate.  The state invests the reconstruction of churches.
