YEREVAN. – The pre-New Year depreciation of the American national currency continues at Armenia’s financial market.

The dollar’s average exchange rate, against the Armenian dram (AMD), comprised AMD 404.04/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange on Friday; this is a 0.19-percent—or a 0.76-point—drop from the previous trading session on Thursday.

Friday’s sales totaled $6.55 million at the stock exchange. The rise in the offer rate of the dollar is due to the pre-New Year trading.

The banks have reduced the buying exchange rate of the American currency, at Armenia’s cash foreign currency market, but they practically did not change the selling rate. This means the banks expect a halt in the dollar’s decline after the weekend. The buying and selling exchange rates of the US national currency are at the AMD 402-407/$1 range, respectively, at the exchange offices.
