YEREVAN. – We keep our promise. We said we will support the ruling coalition’s senior partner, the Republican Party (RPA) leader, President Serzh Sargsyan, in the forthcoming presidential elections in Armenia, and therefore we will support him like one man. Coalition government’s junior member Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP) leader, and National Security Council Secretary, Arthur Baghdasaryan stated addressing 11th special congress of RLP.

He noted that they have gone through ordeals together with RPA and they have shared objectives and political programs.

“The tenure of Serzh Sargsyan coincided with the [global] financial and economic crisis. [But] The Government [of Armenia] was able to surmount it, fulfill its obligations, and to steer the country clear of political collapse,” he said.

In the RLP leader’s view, Armenia moves forward with its balanced foreign policy. The party supports the process of starting a dialogue with Turkey.

“Under the complicated conditions that are created around Iran, Armenia is able to continue its cooperation with it. Armenia’s relations with Russia and the CSTO members are wonderful. We had good results in strengthening our positions in the Nagorno-Karabakh talks,” Baghdasaryan said.

Also, he stressed that they are striving for changes and are confident that their joint programs will move forward.

“We want for these elections to be consistent with international standards. Our two [political] parties have great potential, and our candidate has real chances to be legitimately elected as president,” Arthur Baghdasaryan said adding that RLP will be actively engaged in the election process.

In closing, he wished success to future candidate, President Serzh Sargsyan.

Sometime thereafter, RLP Vice Chairwoman, and RLP National Assembly Faction leader, Heghine Bisharyan formally announced that the Orinats Yerkir Party will support Serzh Sargsyan in the presidential elections to be held on February 18, 2013.
