YEREVAN. – Armenia continues to be in a systemic crisis, there is indeed an unenthusiastic climate in the country, and, under these conditions, that government, during whose rule poverty and unemployment grew, is reappointed.

Opposition People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) PPA Chairman, Armenian National Congress bloc MP Stepan Demirchyan stated the aforesaid during a press conference on Thursday.

Demirchyan also asked that if the authorities are substantiating the appointment of the same government by stating that the later secured a 7-percent growth, where is this growth that is not visible.

“Emigration continues to grow; there is no progress. The country faces most serious challenges. First and foremost, this unenthusiastic, moral and psychological climate needs to be changed; that is why democratic elections should be held,” he said.

Demirchyan noted that the recent presidential and the capital city Yerevan municipal elections were the next rigged elections.

The PPA leader stated that the political opposition should have run in the Yerevan vote with a single list, but when this did not happen, his party decided not to run in the election.

He stressed that the opposition needs to give new impetus to its activities and to try to succeed peacefully. Stepan Demirchyan added that the opposition can make mistakes, but it is the authorities that are responsible for the current situation in Armenia.
