YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square is under beefed up control and the police have surrounded the area, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.

The square is not yet crowded, but the people are coming with Armenia’s tricolor flag in their hands, whereas the vehicles and the servicemen of the Police departments are everywhere.

Liberty Square will be the venue for a rally on Monday; that is, on the day of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Armenia. The rally will be followed by a march toward the Armenian Presidential Palace.

The objective of the rally and the march is to demand from the incumbent Armenian authorities to suspend Armenia’s Russian-led Customs Union accession process and to abandon the process of the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Numerous activists, including the organizers of the march, are being detained since early Monday morning.
