YEREVAN. – Participants in the “We are the deciders” initiative gathered, on Friday since 11:30am, nearby the building of the Armenian National Assembly (NA), where a special session got underway at noon (photo).  

Among other matters, the Armenian lawmakers also will discuss the controversial agreement that was signed on December 2 between the Armenian and the Russian governments, and concerning the sale of the shares of ArmRusGazprom Company of Armenia and the future conditions of operations.

Pursuant to this agreement, the remaining 20 percent of ArmRusGazprom’s shares, which the Government of Armenia owns, will be sold to the Russian energy giant Gazprom Company.

A large number of civil activists have gathered across the NA building, and they are hold in their hands the agreement terms which, in their view, is particularly risky for Armenia.    

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, pursuant to this agreement, Armenia will be obligated to be dependent on the Russian natural gas until the year 2043. Moreover, and until that time, Armenia will have no right to take any action that would make changes in this agreement.
