YEREVAN. – The demonstrators, who gathered across the Armenian National Assembly (NA) building on Friday morning and who are protesting against the Armenian-Russian agreement on natural gas, closed off Baghramian Avenue—in front of the NA building—at around 1pm, and started chanting, “Sovereign Armenia.” (PHOTOS)

The police drove them back from the avenue by using force and, now, forming a human wall, they do not allow the demonstrators to leave the pavement.

Additional police forces have arrived, and the law enforcement officers have detained several activists.

There is a tense situation across the NA building. Clashes are occurring between the police and the demonstrators. The police officers are forcing the activists into vehicles and taking them away.
