YEREVAN. – Restrictions imposed on Iranian transit were a serious blow for Turkey’s economy, famous Russian Iranist Karine Gevorgyan told the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Turkey is interested in the Iranian transit, as the country gets large income, the expert said, commenting on Turkey’s position amid the recent developments over relations between the West and Iran.

“I think in this case Turkey is interested in serious positive outcome of the negotiations with Iran, especially amid internal conflicts that the country is faced with. This would be a strong support Prime Minister Erdogan,” Karine Gevorgyan said.

On January 20 EU lifted a part of sanctions against Iran after IAEA confirmed that Tehran fulfills all commitments in line with the Geneva agreement.
