YEREVAN. – The residents of Armenia will be unable to observe the first total lunar eclipse of this year.

Armenia’s Byurakan Observatory Director Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the eclipse will start on Tuesday at 4:54am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and it will last one hour and seventeen minutes. It will partially last 3.5 hours.

The eclipse will start at 8:54am Armenia time which, however, is daylight time in the country. That is why the residents of Armenia and the entire region will not be able to see one of this year’s two lunar eclipses.

The second, and final, lunar eclipse in 2014 will take place on October 8.
