Former Mayor of Diyarbakir, Turkey, prominent Kurdish figure Osman Baydemir stated that there is no peace and tranquility in Anatolia and Mesopotamia ever since the great massacres of the Armenians.  

In the US State of New Jersey, Baydemir met with Armenians who had moved from Diyarbakir to the United States, reported Demokrathaber website of Turkey.

Baydemir noted that Mesopotamia and Kurdistan are the shared homeland of all the peoples and religions living there.

“Unfortunately, we lived great pains. Unfortunately, some have forced our peoples to leave their lands. The foremost among these peoples are our friends and brothers, the Armenian people. They were subjected to great massacres, but we were the ones who lost the most. Everything happened just like in nature: the massacre upset the peoples’ ecosystem,” the Kurdish figure stated, in particular.

During his tenure as the Mayor of Diyarbakir, Osman Baydemir had apologized on several occasions for the Armenian Genocide, and invited former Diyarbakir residents’ grandchildren to the city promising to guarantee them property and jobs. Baydemir is also known for his considerable assistance in the restoration of the Surp (Holy) Giragos Armenian Church of Diyarbakir.
