YEREVAN. – The “[Hands] out of our pocket” citizens’ initiative of Armenia on Thursday kicked off its car rally in capital city Yerevan.

Around twenty vehicles had assembled at their starting point, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the location.

Before the start of the car rally, however, several police officers approached the participants an asked them not to enter the downtown area, since this will cause a traffic jam.

Initiative member Artashes Misakyan, on the other hand, told the law enforcement officers that they had warned all the instances that if their demands are not fulfilled, they will resort to disobedient measures.

Shortly after the start of the car rally, several police cars blocked its way, and they do not permit the rally to head for the downtown area.

The “[Hands] out of our pocket” citizens’ initiative demands to remove the red lines that indicate paid-parking areas, reduce the street video camera and speed detector fines by five times, pardon the penalties that have accrued for the fines that are issued so far, and suspend all traffic-related fines until a new respective regulation is set.
