The Moscow court found Armenian truck driver Hrachya Harutyunyan guilty of causing a car accident that killed 18 people.

According to the verdict, Harutyunyan has been proved guilty of breaching traffic rules and violation of vehicle operation.

During his final statement in court, Hrachya Harutyunyan said he repents of his actions and expressed condolences to everyone who was affected by this tragic event.

Harutyunyan said if he had an opportunity to come back to that day, “he would do everything to avoid the collision”.

The prosecutor demanded a sentence of seven years in jail for Harutyunyan.

Earlier an Armenian truck driver pleaded guilty in a car accident that occurred in Russia last July. A truck crashed into a passenger bus on July 13, 2013 outside Moscow. The impact of the crash was so powerful that the bus had split in two. The accident claimed eighteen lives and injured forty others.
