An earthquake measuring 6.2 struck western part of Iran, near the Iraqi border, the U.S. Geological Survey press service said.

The epicenter of the quake was located 480 km southwest of capital city Tehran, in close proximity to Dezful city, and its hypocenter was 10 km beneath the surface. 

No information has been received on any victims, or destruction.
