A team of specialists from Istanbul have arrived in Sason (Sasun) district in the Batman Province of Turkey, and to carry out restoration at the Surp Asdvadzadzin (St. Mary’s) Armenian Church located on top of Mount Maruta (Maratuk). 

The restoration of the church has begun owing to the efforts by the Association of Armenians of Sasun.

At the initial phase, the restoration will comprise sculptural relief work, and the main restoration is planned to get underway a month later, reported Haberkita website of Turkey.

Chairman Aziz Dagci of the Association of Armenians of Sasun noted that the sculptural relief work is conducted with modern technical means, and the church is expected to be fully restored by July 2015.
