U.S. State Department officials held direct talks with the Syrian Kurds who are fighting against the Islamic State, the State Department said on Thursday.
“We have engaged over the course of just last weekend with the PYD [Democratic Union Party],” Reuters quotes State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
Psaki said the talks with the Kurdish party were held in Paris.
