The development of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation should not be linked to the statement that the Turkish Foreign Office ordered Governor of Kars Ahmet Kara to provide information on the state of the check point at the Armenian-Turkish border, Ruben Mehrabyan, an expert for the Armenian Center of Political and International Studies, told NEWS.am.

According to him, such statements are of merely technical nature. “The Turkish Foreign Office inquired about this from the Governor, who answered. I would not make any far-reaching conclusions. That was just a good piece of information for the press the authorities are using to make the impression that something will follow the statement,” Mehrabyan. He added that nothing has changed in the Armenian-Turkish process. “Moreover, no changes should be expected in the foreseeable future,” the expert said.

Haberler reports that the Turkish Foreign Office ordered Kars Governor Ahmet Kara to provide information on the state of Armenian-Turkish border, land communication between the two countries as well as on how much time the infrastructure renovation may take.
